Make a Community Cookbook
Students explore essential questions about food and community by conducting interviews with family members and members of their community about food in their respective cultures.
Guest chefs will visit as guest speakers to showcase how foods are cultivated, harvested, and prepared in their respective native cultures.
The unit culminates with a self-published book of memoirs, stories, and recipes from their native cultures, and a 'Community Cafe Night" featuring prepared recipes and public readings from of their anthology of memoirs and family stories. The cookbooks can be sold as a fundraiser for your organization.
